Headshot Session with Vandiveer Photography

Just did a headshot session with Jonathan Vandiveer. It was really a great experience. I enjoyed shooting with Jonathan. We did well over 400 shots. I wasn’t rushed at all and we looked at the shots after each look to make sure we got everything we wanted as well before we moved on to the next look. Probably the most enjoyable shoot I’ve ever had! Well…one that I didn’t get paid for at least heh ;)

Here’s how to contact Jonathan Vandiveer if anyone’s interested:

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Recap

So the Walk is over now! It was an amazing experience! I’ve never experienced anything like this before. Thank you for your support! I wouldn’t have been able to take part in this experience without all of your support. We walked 26.2 miles the first day and 13.1 miles the second day for a total of 39.3 miles with over 1900 other walkers! I met so many amazing people during this walk.

I am still recuperating after putting that many miles on my legs. I can barely walk because my knees are killing me now, but it was well worth it. It also makes me realize that there’re many older women that are in better shape and have a more durable body than me as well!

We walked all around Long Beach. We started at the Queen Mary and ended up at El Dorado Park. The next day, we went back to the Queen Mary through a different route. There were so many people outside of their homes as well at all of the rest stops we had supporting all of the walkers. People had signs outside of their houses. They also had water and snacks for the walkers as well. To see the number of people that were out there supporting and even walking was so affecting.

I took a bunch of pictures along the way. Check them out here:

Thank you again for all your support!

New Traditions

hereandnow Theatre Company

So this is the new show that I’m in running throughout the Summer, June 30th – Sept. 1st. It’s every Saturday at 8pm. Come check out the show. I’ve been with the group for 2 years now and this is sort of a collection of our best pieces. We’ve had our theater space in Pasadena for over a year now at the Armory Northwest, but the City of Pasadena has decided to tear down the Armory Northwest. So for our last summer at Armory Northwest, we are making an all-out effor to sell out every show to help hereandnow continue our efforts to create exciting, new work and to be a voice for our communities.

You can get more information and buy tickets from our Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/hereandnowtheater

If you want to purchase:

In the right-column of the page is an image promoting the “New Traditions” Show on Saturdays at 8pm. Click on that image and then you’ll see the PayPal purchase links for the different days. Make sure that when you’re paying, you’re getting the “New Traditions” Show at 8pm.

Kayaking

So for Memorial Day I went up to Sacramento for a friend’s graduation from Sacramento State. I went kayaking down the American River. It was my first time kayaking and it was down Class II rapids. It wasn’t too bad…actually pretty tame. But it was still fun for the first time kayaking. I definitely want to go and do it again. I didn’t fall off either :)

I went on an inflatable kayak and not one of those hard-shelled ones. So I guess it’s more for a beginner. But it was tiring as heck having to paddle the whole time pretty much. There were lots of people along the river at the little beach spots so I had to paddle through those spots so I looked like I knew what I was doing ;)

I’ll be doing this next time out:

Mastercard Commercial

My Mastercard Commercial I shot last year is playing again! It’s showing through the NBA Playoffs. So watch out for it as you watch some basketball. It’s also playing a lot during other sporting events on tv. It’s also on ESPN a lot. I’m spinning in a chair at the beginning of the commercial…so don’t blink or you’ll miss me!

You can also watch it right now here:

Hey…I Saw your Commercial!

I’ve been taking this Commercial class the last couple weeks. It’s taught by Mike Pointer. I just have to say that he’s great. He’s completely honest and is not afraid to speak his mind. He won’t sugercoat anything. And he doesn’t do it in a negative way either. That’s the great thing, in an industry that’s full of sex and violence, he’s a breath of fresh air. I’ve gotten motivated again to push my Acting career forward.

Sad day at Virginia Tech

I’m still in shock over what happened at Virginia Tech. I don’t know what to say. It’s unbelievable the minds that are out there in this world. How could someone justify that it’s OK to ruin other lives because he doesn’t like his own life and thinks everyone’s out to get him. I sometimes also feel like the world is against me, but I also know that it deosn’t matter what the world thinks of me. I don’t live my life for the world. I live my life to worship and glorify God.

My prayers go out to all the people that have been affected by this tragic event.

Japan and Taiwan

So I was gone for 10 days to Japan and Taiwan. First time I’ve been to Japan since I was 2 years old. It was a great time. It was a big family trip with the 9 family members and a few of my parents’ friends. We did a 5 day tour. We basically went around the outskirts of Tokyo into the countryside. We went along the coast and saw Temples, Cherry Blossoms, Waterfalls and Japanese people. I took over 500 pictures while in Japan. We had traditional Japanese breakfasts, lunches and dinners. They’re basically 8-10 different items for each meal. Doesn’t look like much when you get it, but it’ll fill you right up.

After Japan, we went to Taiwan for 5 days. We just saw family and ate a lot. Really didn’t do much in Taiwan except for eating and shopping for gifts for friends and myself. Stuff is cheaper there (Made in Taiwan). All in all, it was definitely a great time. Everything was just so packed in though and I really didn’t get much time to take a breather. But at least we didn’t waste any time just sitting around.

I have the pics up in my gallery: http://www.yoyao.com/gallery/v/japantaiwan07
